The Lindenwood men's basketball team became the first HAAC school to reach the 10-win mark on Saturday with a 75-61 victory over Sterling during the final day of action at the Tabor Classic. Like Friday's victory over Tabor, the Lions won with a big first-half performance.
The Lions trailed by as much as 20-13 midway through the first-half but outscored the Warriors 27-6 over the final 9:19 of the period to go into the half with a 40-26 advantage. In the second-half, Sterling cut Lindenwood's lead down to seven at 46-39. The Lions went on a 10-0 run at that point, sparked by a three-pointer by
Joey Parker, and the team's lead never dropped to single-digits again.
Lindenwood shot 53.2 percent from the field for the game and held Sterling to just 37.5 percent shooting. The Lions also won the free throw battle, going 11 more times and making seven more shots, and the rebounding contest, as they outrebounded the Warriors 39-24.
The Lions were led by
David King and
Richard Rose who both scored 19 points. King had his season-high for points after making nine-of-13 from the field. Rose got most of his points from the free throw line where he made 11-of-12.
Parker chipped in with nine points and had seven assists and only one turnover.
Toriano Adams had a team-high 10 rebounds.
Lindenwood improves to 10-3 overall with the victory in its final non-conference game of the regular season. The Lions resume HAAC action this Thursday evening with a road game at Missouri Valley.
