Lindenwood Swimming and Diving Place Second Against NCAA Competition

It was a good day in the pool for the Lindenwood men's swimming and diving team on Saturday afternoon finishing second out of four teams, placing only behind NCAA Division I, Missouri State University. The Lions finished 62.5 points behind the meet winner and 34 points ahead of another Division I school, St. Louis University.

A pair of Lions had huge days on Saturday. Sergio Molina and Javier Hernandez both won two events and were part of two relay teams that were victorious. Molina won the 100 and 200 yard breaststrokes and Hernandez was victorious in the 100 and 200 yard butterfly.

Molina, a freshman from Spain, finished with a time of 2:04.01 which set a school record in the event. Hernandez and Molina teamed up to help the 400 yard medley and freestyle relay teams win.

On the women's side the Lady Lions finished third out of four teams. Lindenwood compiled 22 points which was more than 150 point less than Missouri State, who was the meet winner.

Lauren Thrasher placed second in the 100 yard breaststroke and the 3400 yard freestyle team placed third in that event.

Next up for the swimming programs is the Principia Invitational in Elsah, Illinois on January 30th.
