The Lindenwood defense shut down Baker over the final 12 minutes of the game to lead the Lions men's basketball team to its third straight win. The Lions improved to 8-1 on their home court with a 64-44 victory over the Wildcats on Saturday evening.
The Lions never trailed in the game but only led by three points at 40-37 with 12:29 remaining in the second-half. From that point on, Lindenwood outscored Baker 24-7 to pull away for a 20-point win. In that span, the Lions only allowed one made field goal. Offensively,
Richard Rose hit four three-pointers to help seal the victory. For the second-half, Baker shot just 19.0 percent from the field and made one-of-eight from beyond the arc.
Baker stayed with Lindenwood for the early part of the game in large part by hitting six-of-10 three-pointers in the first half. Despite that, the Lions led 33-29 at halftime, with 11 of those points coming from
Alfred Nelson.
Lindenwood finished the game shooting 47.2 percent from the field, while Baker shot just 33.3 percent. The Lions had 12 more rebounds and made 10 more field goals.
Nelson took advantage of Baker's zone to make a career-high 18 points, including four three-pointers. Rose finished with 14 points and he also knocked down four shots from three-point range.
Brett Thompson scored 10 points and
Toriano Adams had nine points and a team-high 14 rebounds.#
Joey Parker# had five assists and Rose paced the team with a pair of steals.
