It was a successful opening weekend trip to Alabama for the Lindenwood baseball team as it finished it off on Sunday with two wins against 22nd ranked Auburn Montgomery, 4-3 and 5-2.
In game one the Lions took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth when the Senators scored a pair of runs to cut the lead to a single run. Lindenwood would score an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning and would go on to win, 4-3. Randy Serrato started and got his first win of the season while Joey Vega saved his first game of the year.
Game two was much of the same for the Lions as they jumped out to an early 4-0 lead going into the bottom of the fifth. Once again Auburn Montgomery cut into the Lions lead with a pair of runs in the inning but the Lions added another run in the sixth. Lindenwood would go on to win the game 5-2. Junior Jeff Wilkins got the win for the Lions and Shelby Anderson hit his third home run of the year.
The doubleheader sweep concluded Lindenwood's first weekend of the season. The team went 4-0 after also sweeping a pair of games from Faulkner.
Next up for the Lions is a trip to Oklahoma to take on Bacone College in a three game weekend series.
