A dismal shooting night spelled doom for the Lindenwood Lions basketball team as they fell to Missouri Valley, 64-50. The 50 points was the lowest output the Lions have had all year.
Missouri Valley went on a 11-2 run to start the game to extend the lead to nine. The lead would extend to 12 after Bryant Porter connected on a three pointer with 12 minutes to go in the first half. Lindenwood chip away at the lead and would get it down to four going into the locker room at the half.
Lindenwood was unable to use the momentum they gained at the end of the first half to start the second half as the Vikings would connect on back-to-back three pointers to extend the lead eight and that was the beginning of the end for the Lions.
Missouri Valley would extend the lead all the way to 25 points with just over five minutes to play. The Lions would go on a late 13-2 run but it was too little too late as the Vikings would win by 15.
As a team the Lions had their worst shooting night of the season. The Lions would shoot just 33 percent from the field and only 19 percent from the three point line. Lindenwood would only get to the free throw line 10 times on the night compared to the Vikings 16 trips to the charity stripe.
Brett Thompson had his best night as a Lion, leading the team in points with 17 points. Toriano Adams would pitch in 12 points and Brandon Kunkel added nine.
With the loss, the Lions drop to 10-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play. Next up for the Lions is a home game against Graceland University on Saturday night.
