Lindenwood Defends Home Court In Win Over Graceland

The Lindenwood men's basketball won a home conference contest on Saturday afternoon with an 80-69 victory over Graceland.

The Lions outscored Graceland 42-15 in bench points, including 27 from Richard Rose who came off the bench for the first time since his freshman season. Lindenwood also dominated the paint, with a 44-29 rebounding margin and a 40-14 advantage in points in the paint.

Lindenwood shot 50 percent from the field, and held the Yellowjackets below 40 percent. The Lions also won the battle at the free throw line, making 18 shots, five more than Graceland.

Graceland jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the game, but Lindenwood answered with a 16-7 run to take the lead for the first time. They built a nine point lead late in the half but Graceland scored the final four points of the half to make the halftime score 36-31.

In the second-half, the Yellowjackets opened strong again, taking a 46-43 lead with 13:40 remaining. Lindenwood went on a 14-2 spurt at point, sparked by 10 points from guards Rose, Joey Parker and Tyler Harris. Graceland had one more run, cutting that lead to 62-59. Three-point plays from Rose and Toriano Adams put the Lions make up by nine and they eventually pushed their lead to double-digits by the end of the contest.

Rose made eight-of-10 field goals, including four-of-five three-pointers, and he made all seven free throws he attempted. Parker had 13 points and a team-high four assists, and Brett Thompson scored 13 and had a team-high five blocks. Adams finished one point shy of a double-double with 13 rebounds and nine points.
