The Lindenwood men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed against NCCA Division I Saint Louis and NCAA Division II Missouri S&T on Saturday afternoon in St. Peters, Mo. The men would finish in first with a total team score of 108 and the women would place second with 78 points.
Javier Hernandez and DJ Ashruf led the way for the Lions finishing on top of the podium in two events each. Hernandez would win the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly while Ashruf finished in first place in the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard freestyle. Uba Zavaleta would record the fastest time in the 500 yard freestyle as did Justin Fisher in the 100 yard breaststroke. The men also won the 200 yard IM relay race.
The women finished in second place behind the Billikens but three Lady Lions would finish in first place. Sarah Billamosa finished first in the 200 yard IM and Kay Rosenhauer placed first in the 100 freestyle. To wrap up the Lady Lions top finishers was Stephanie Heutel who won the 100 yard backstroke event.
Up next for the swimming and diving teams is dual against another Division I school Missouri State.
