Richard Rose knocked down seven three-pointers to lead the No. 14 Lindenwood men's basketball team to a 77-60 win over Mid-Continent on Tuesday evening at Hyland Arena.
The Lions led by one at halftime but outscored the Cougars 46-30 in the second half. Lindenwood shot 70.6 percent from the field and hit nine of 10 from three-point range in the final period. Rose scored 17 in the half, including hitting five of six from beyond the arc.
Lindenwood broke open the game with an 8-0 run early in the second half. Kramer Soderberg hit a three-pointer to spark the spurt and Rose followed with five straight points. Another 8-0 run later in the half put the Lions up 66-50 and the Lions led by double-digits the rest of the way.
In the first half, Lindenwood trailed by as much as eight points, but it outscored Mid-Continent 15-6 for the final 7:30 of the period to grab a 31-30 lead at the break. Alfred Nelson helped keep the Lions in the game in the first half, making all four field goals he attempted.
For the game, Lindenwood's defense held Mid-Continent to 37.3 percent shooting from the field and the Cougars scored 14 points below their season average. Lindenwood shot over 50 percent from the field for the game and hit 57.1 percent of its shots from three-point range.
Rose finished with a game-high 25 points. Three other players were in double-figures as Nelson and Soderberg each scored 14, and Alex Bazzell had 11. Michael Boos was perfect from the field and had eight points. Soderberg led the team with six rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.
Lindenwood improves to 4-1 on the season. The Lions are off until Nov. 30 when they hit the road for the first time with an away contest at Missouri Baptist.
