Women's Basketball Falls on the Road to Columbia College

The Lindenwood Lady Lions were back on the road Thursday night in Columbia, Mo. to take on the Columbia Cougars. From the opening tip it was all Cougars and the home team cruised to an 89-57 win.

The Cougars came out on fire shooting the ball. In the opening half Columbia shot 61 percent from the field but the Lady Lions endured the hot start and only trailed by 11 heading into the locker room.

Unfortunately for the visitors the halftime break did not cool down the Cougars. Columbia continued to shoot the ball well and outscored the Lady Lions 50-29 in the final 20 minutes. For the game, Columbia was 35-for-59 from the field which was good 59 percent compared to the Lady Lions who shot 31 percent.

A pair of freshman led the way in scoring for the Lady Lions. Shantay Hibbler and Ashley Roth scored 12 and 11 respectively, which was both of their career-highs in point scored. Kelly Albers led the way on the boards with nine.

Columbia outrebounded the Lady Lions 45-35 including a 34-19 margin on the defensive glass. Lindenwood shot just 31 percent from the field and 24 percent from behind the three point line.

With the loss the Lady Lions drop to 2-3 overall and will be right back on the court Saturday night against Harris-Stowe at home.
