The Lindenwood Lady Lions soccer team won a key HAAC game against Missouri Valley 2-0 on Tuesday night at Harlen C. Hunter Stadium. The win assured that the Lady Lions will participate in the HAAC postseason tournament that will begin next week.
Lindenwood got on the scoreboard first when Lindsey Shea sent a centering pass across the box and was kicked into the Valley net by a Viking defender. The goal gave the Lady Lions the 1-0 lead heading into the halftime break.
The Lady Lions were able to get an insurance goal late in the second half with just four minutes to go in the game. Amanda Cassano would score her first goal of the season and put the win on ice for the Lady Lions.
Whitney Calvin started in the net for Lindenwood and recorded her fifth shutout of the season stopping all four of the Vikings' shots.
With the win the Lady Lions end their regular season with an overall record of 7-10-1 and a HAAC mark of 4-4-1. The team will now wait on results from games across the conference to see who its first round opponent in the conference tournament will be.
