Women's Basketball Dominates Fisk University

The Lindenwood Lady Lions basketball team traveled to Nashville, Tenn. on Monday night  to take on Fisk University. The Lady Lions shot a season-high 67 percent from the field and were victorious 87-49 to even up their season record at 4-4. 

From the opening tip the Lady Lions would dominate the home team. The first half came to a close with Lindenwood shooting 65 percent (17-for-26) from the field and holding a 40-22 lead.  

The second half was much of the same for Lindenwood. In the final 20 minutes the Lady Lions recorded their best half of shooting this season. The team missed only eight shots in 27 attempts which was good for 70 percent. Lindenwood's defense was also stellar in the final half giving up just 27 points, and the Lady Lions would roll to the 87-49 victory.

As a team, the Lady Lions shot 67 percent from the field compared to Fisk's 35 percent. Lindenwood dominated the boards outrebounding the Lady Bulldogs 33-18. The Lindenwood defense also forced Fisk to turn the ball over 28 times.

Leading the way for the Lady Lions was Kelly Albers who scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Caroline Bourlioux returned to action after an injury and scored a career-high 19 points in just 17 minutes of play. Freshman Shantey Hibbler would also score in double figures with 10.

The Lady Lions will begin their conference portion of the schedule at 5:30 p.m. Thursday night at the Hyland Arena against Culver-Stockton.
