Men's Basketball Opens Chicago Trip With Victory Over East-West

The No. 14 Lindenwood men's basketball team continued its winning streak on Tuesday night with an 80-72 victory over East-West. The Lions now have the third longest winning streak in school history at eight games.

Lindenwood scored the first nine points of the game and had a comfortable lead throughout the first half. The Lions took a 41-29 advantage into the halftime break. In the second half, a 9-0 run by East-West midway through the period tightened the game up and the Phantoms cut the lead down to as low as four. Alex Bazzell hit a key three-point to put Lindenwood up 75-68 and Alfred Nelson and Bazzell hit five of six free throws late to seal the win.

The guard trio of Richard Rose, Bazzell, and Kramer Soderberg led the Lions by scoring 55 of the team's 80 points. Rose had a team-high 25 points, including 17 in the first half. He hit five three-pointers in the first 20 minutes and had six for the game. Bazzell was a perfect five of five from the field and had 16 points. Soderberg had 14 ponts and a team-high seven assists. David King led the squad with seven rebounds, and Nelson had three steals.

With the victory, the Lions improve to 9-1 on the season. Lindenwood will face Rocky Mountain on Friday at 5 p.m. during day one of the Robert Morris Holiday Classic.
