Lions Outlast Rocky Mountain; Extend Winning Streak

The No. 14 Lindenwood Lions basketball team extended its winning streak to nine games after defeating Rocky Mountain 93-83 on Friday night at the Robert Morris Holiday Classic in Chicago, Ill.

Both the Bears and the Lions started the game shooting lights out. Lindenwood ended the first half shooting 63 percent from the field and 66 percent from behind the three point line, while Rocky Mountain shot 53 percent from the field and 63 percent from three point range. The Lions held a slim 46-44 lead at intermission.

The Lions started the second half just like they finished the first half hitting their first three three-pointers to extend the lead to nine. Lindenwood closed out the win outscoring the Bears 37-29 in the final half.

As a team, the Lions shot 28 of 49 from the field and 10 of 15 from the three point line. Rocky Mountain shot 31 of 70 from the field and 12 of 23 from three point range.

Kramer Soderberg led the way for the Lions scoring 25 points while shooting a perfect 4 of 4 from behind the arc. The junior point guard also led the team with six assists and chipped in two steals. Alex Bazzell had his best night as a Lions scoring 22 points on 6 of 9 shooting and was a perfect 9 of 9 from the free throw line. Richard Rose pitched in with 18 points and Alfred Nelson scored 11.

With the win, the Lions improve to 10-1 on the season. They will take on No. 1 Robert Morris Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
