Lady Lions Open HAAC With Win Over Culver-Stockton

The Lindenwood Lady Lions women's basketball team started the conference portion of its schedule with a 79-48 win over the Culver-Stockton Wildcats on Thursday night at the Hyland Arena.

Lindenwood started the game scoring the first 11 points and would run the lead up to as much as 13 in the first half. The Lions would go into the halftime break leading 29-22.

The Lady Lions would start the second half with a 15-4 run extending the lead to 18 with just over 12 minutes to play. Lindenwood's offense would continue to pour in the points and would lead by 31 with a minute to play in the game. The Lady Lions would score 50 points in the second half which is the most the team has scored in any half this season.

After shooting 30 percent in the opening 20 minutes, the Lady Lions would shoot 62 percent in the final half and 44 percent for the game. Culver-Stockton would end the game shooting just 23 percent. Lindenwood outrebounded the visitors 47-37.

Sarah Schnieders led the way for the Lady Lions recording her first double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Kelly Albers also recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Caroline Bourlioux chipped in 14 points while Marissa Lehnig scored nine points and led the with five steals.

With the win the Lady Lions improve their record to 5-4 and 1-0 in HAAC play. Next up for Lindenwood is a road game against Baker University on Saturday afternoon.
