Men's Swimming Finishes First and Women Second at the Liberal Arts Championships

The Lindenwood men's swimming and diving team finished off a first place finish at the Liberal Arts Championship over the weekend, while the women's team finished in second place.

Lindenwood men's team would blow away their competition compiling 893.5 points which was 177 points more than Luther College, who finished second. The women's team had a very good showing finishing in second place behind champion Luther College.


Day Two Recap
The second day of competition was dominated by the men's squad. For the second time in the meet Javier Hernandez finished on top of the podium, this time in the 100 yard butterfly. Sergio Molina would have the fastest time in the 400 yard individual medley and 100 yard breaststroke. The 100 yard backstroke was dominated by the Lions with Simon Morley finishing first and Carlos Tejero placing second.

The Lady Lions would be led by the 800 yard freestyle relay and the 200 yard medley teams which both finished third.

Lauren Thrasher and Sarah Billamosa both finished fourth in the 100 yard breaststroke and 400 yard individual medley, respectively.

 
Day One Recap
Leading the way for the men's squad on day one was Javier Hernandez who finished first in the 200 yard individual medley. Freshman Ubaldo Zavaleta and Dylan Palmer-Givan finished second and sixth respectively in the 500 yard freestyle while fellow freshman DJ Ashruf and Diego Banda placed third an seventh in the 50 yard freestyle event.

The Lions relay teams also had some success on day one. The 400 yard medley relay team finished in the top spot while the 200 yard freestyle finished in second.

On the ladies side Sarah Billamosa and Lauren Thrasher placed in the top eight in the 200 yard individual medley and Ashton Friedley finished sixth in the 50 yard freestyle.
