The Lindenwood men's volleyball team ran its winning streak to four matches Sunday afternoon, with a five set defeat of Milwaukee School of Engineering. After both squads exchanged games through the first four sets, the Lions surged ahead in the fifth to win 30-26, 24-30, 30-19, 28-30, 15-7.
Rick Hess led the Lions with a double-double and career-highs of 18 kills and 14 blocks.
Taylor Morrill chipped in with 12 kills and
Mike Warren added eight.
Mike Larson tallied 41 assists and
JM Plummer had a team-best 14 digs. Larson finished with 13 digs and
Mike Emerick had 12.
Lindenwood won a pair of matches Saturday afternoon at the Stritch Wolves Triangular in Milwaukee, Wis. The Lions opened the day with a sweep of St. Xavier (Ill.) and then defeated No. 7 Cardinal Stritch 3-1.
Lindenwood made quick work of St. Xavier, winning by scores of 30-22, 30-11, 30-24.
Jack Mitchell led a balanced attack with nine kills, and Hess and
Raphael Mattos each had six.
Carson Grissinger tallied 22 assists and a team-high 10 digs. Larson added 18 assists in the win.
Jon Wong and Plummer converted two aces, and
Matt Schmack and Hess both had five blocks apiece.
In the second match against the host school, the Lions returned the favor to Cardinal Stritch, defeating the Wolves 30-26, 30-23, 26-30, 30-17. Earlier this year, Stritch thumped Lindenwood 3-1 on its home court.
Hess had a team-high 13 kills and Morrill chipped in with 12.
Tim Huizinga record nine kills and Warren added eight. Larson paced the offense with 39 assists, and both Grissinger and he converted three aces. Defensively,
Andrew Hock logged 11 digs and Plummer had nine. Hess netted nine blocks and Warren recorded eight.
Lindenwood (10-6, 4-2) will travel to Quincy this Thursday for a match at 7 p.m.
