Storyline
After a four game sweep last weekend the Lions will once again play in the friendly confines of the Lou Brock Sports Complex.
This weekend the Lions will play their first conference game of the year when Benedictine comes to St. Charles. The Ravens enter the doubleheader with an 0-4 record.
To close out the weekend Lindenwood will play a non-conference game against Harris-Stowe. The Hornets visit St. Charles with a record of 6-3.
Last Week's Results
Finally, the Lindenwood baseball team played games in Missouri, after 14 games on the road to start the season. Indiana University Southeast came to the Lou Brock Sports Complex over the weekend and the Lions swept all four games. The opening doubleheader saw the Lions win 9-6 and 7-3. In the final two games of the weekend Lindenwood won 5-2 and 4-2.
It was a rough start for the Lions in game one when the Grenaiders scored five runs in the top of the first inning. Even though the home team was trailing by five, they never surrendered.
With the Lions trailing by two in the bottom of the fifth,
Frank Corpus and
Anthony Dallosto would each drive in a run with singles to tie the score. Later in the inning Lindenwood would load the bases for power hitting
Shelby Anderson. Grenadiers hurler, Brandon Clemmons, would uncork a wild pitch to give the Lions the lead.
In game two the Lions would jump out to an early 3-0 lead after a three run bottom of the first. The home team would add one more run in bottom of the sixth to sweep the doubleheader.
Game three saw the Lions jump out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second. The Greandiers would tie the score in the top of the fifth but the Lions would come right back in the bottom half of the inning and score two runs to take the lead.
The series finale saw the Lions jump to an early 3-0 lead after two innings. Indiana Southeast would cut the lead to one in the fifth but wouldn't get any closer as the Lions would hold on for the win and sweep the four game series.

So far this season only two players have started every game. Senior

Shelby Anderson have been the only constant in the lineup this season.
Home Cookin'
The Lions have started their home portion of the schedule with a perfect 4-0 record. After playing their first 14 games away from St. Charles they will 14 games in a row at the Lou Brock Sports Complex. In 2009, the squad compiled a 14-8 record at home.
Goin' Deep
Shelby Anderson has started the 2010 season showing some major power. In just 18 games, the junior has connected on six bombs, which is the third most in the country.
Errorless Baseball
When the team has committed one or no errors they are 10-1. On the contrary if they commit two or more they have a record of 3-4.
Swiping Bags
Stolen bases has been a big part of the early season. The Lions have at least one stolen base in all but four games and have totaled 21 on the year. The total is the 24th most in the whole country.
Bryce Holland leads the way for the team with seven stolen bases. Earlier in the season Lindenwood swiped a season-high four bases against Bacone.
Going The Distance
Already this season the team has four complete games. Zach Malwey leads the team with two, while
Evan Vinyard and
Randy Serrato each have one. A year ago the Lions compiled nine complete games.
Piling Up The K's
The Lindenwood pitching staff is racking up the strikeouts in quick fashion. The 126 total strikeouts is the sixth most in the country. Starters
Evan Vinyard and
Zach Malawey are first and second in the country with 38 and 37 strikeouts respectively.
Cashing In
When the team has gotten a runner on third base with less than two outs, they have driven that man in, 68 percent (26-for-38) of the time.
HAAC Champs
For the second consecutive year the Lions were the HAAC Champs. In 2009 they complied a 32-8 conference record and also won four straight games in the conference tournament to be crowned the tourney champs.
Rankings
The 2009 season ended with the Lions being ranked 15th and at the start of the 2010 season they are ranked 12th which is the highest of any HAAC school.
Scouting The Ravens
Benedictine comes into the weekend series against the Lions with a 0-4 record. The Ravens have struggled to start the season scoring runs.
Leading the way at the plate for the Ravens is Alex Thompson who is hitting .385 with a pair of RBIs.
Michael “Doc” Beeman enters third year as the skipper of the Ravens baseball program. This season will be his fourth at the helm of the Ravens.
Scouting The Hornets
Harris-Stowe will come to St. Charles for a non-conference match-up against the Lions. The Hornets will play a four game series against Trinity Christian before taking on the Lions. Prior to the series against Trinity, the Hornets have compiled a record of 6-3 and have won their last three games in a row.
Leading the way for the Hornets is Nick Berding who is hitting .471 with two RBIs. Jon Harvey is leading the team with seven RBIs.
Trevor Zugmaier leads the way on the hill for the Hornets with a record of 1-0 and an ERA of 1.86. Closer Cody Ostmann has two saves which ranks him 14th in the country.
Up Next
It will be a busy week for the Lions as they will play six games in five days. First up will be a home game against Graceland then a non-conference game against Mid Continent. Finally, the Lions will host Baker on Saturday afternoon.
