Highlight Video
Nearly 300 people celebrated Lindenwood University football Thursday night at the Columns Banquet Center in St. Charles as the Lions and their supporters came together for the 2010 football banquet.
There were many highlights to the evening, chief among them a Top Ten highlight video featuring the best moments of a 13-1 season that ended with a 25-22 loss to Sioux Falls in the NAIA national championship game. The superb video was prepared by LU student broadcaster Katie Schuler.
In his speech to the team, Coach
Patrick Ross stressed Lindenwood's team character and team unity all season long. Ross was particularly appreciative of the support provided by the University's administration and President James D. Evans, who reminded the team and the crowd that he would like to return to Rome, Georgia next season.
Other highlights included the team MVP awards. The defensive MVP went to freshman linebacker
Parks Peterson. The Lions had co-offensive MVPs: freshman running back Denodus O'Bryant, and junior quarterback
Philip Staback.
Rudy Fleming received the 2009 Leadership Award.
The special teams MVP went to junior placekicker
Halley Ferrell. The offensive renegade of the year was Josh Quigley, and the defensive renegade of the year went to
Thomas Stubbs. The special teams renegade of the year was
Mark Kirkland.
Senior linebacker
Logen Wright won the Heart of a Lion Award for the third consecutive year, while senior lineman
Jeff Hynes won the Most Valuable Big Man award on offense. Senior defensive end
Alvin Davie won the Most Valuable Big Man Award on defense.
Lindenwood's freshman of the year was wide receiver
Andrew Helmick.
