The Lindenwood field hockey team dropped a 4-3 decision to Bellarmine Saturday morning in Louisville, Ky. The Lady Lions led 2-1 at halftime, but were outscored 3-1 in the second half.
Kayleigh Harrower gave Lindenwood an early 1-0 lead after scoring off a rebound in the eighth minute of play. The lead was short lived, however, as Bellarmine scored moments later to tie it at one.
The score would remain that way until the closing seconds of the first half. For the second time in the last three games,
Lynsey Porter scored from the top of the circle in the final seconds of the opening period. The Lady Lions took a 2-1 lead into the break.
Bellarmine quickly grabbed the lead in the second half, scoring twice in the first ten minutes of play. In the 51st minute,
Ana Maria Llosa received a pass from the corner, and tied the game at three with a tally from the top of the circle.
With less than ten minutes remaining, Bellarmine scored the game winner from inside the circle.
Julianne Sutton took the loss in goal, surrendering all four goals. She posted five saves in a losing effort. Llosa and
Erin de Jesus each logged an assist.
Bellarmine held an 17-6 advantage in penalty corners, and outshot the Lady Lions 19-10.
Lindenwood (3-5) will play Rhodes tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.
