Lindenwood Outmatched Against Bellarmine

The Lindenwood field hockey team remained winless after Saturday afternoon's 5-1 loss to Bellarmine at Hunter Stadium.

The Lady Lions held off the visitors for almost half of the opening period, but the Knights broke through with a goal in the 16th minute. They added two more before the end of the half, including a goal with just eight seconds remaining.

In the second half, Haley McCulloch netted her second score of the season to put Lindenwood on the scoresheet. But Bellarmine was able to put away two more goals to put the game out of reach.

Julianne Sutton got the start in goal for the Lady Lions, making nine saves. The home squad was outshot 19-5 by the Knights, and Bellarmine held a 15-9 advantage in penalty corners.

Lindenwood will return to action on Oct. 15th when it plays host to Hendrix at 6 pm. The two teams met in the Lady Lions' second match of the season with the Warriors coming out on top 4-1.
