Lindenwood Swimming and Diving Open Season at Show-Me Showdown

The Lindenwood men's and women's swimming teams opened their season this past weekend at the Show-Me-Showdown in Columbia, Mo. The men would finish in fourth place while the Lady Lions placed fifth.

Javier Hernandez ed the way for the Lions, swimming to a first place finish in the 150 yard butterfly and a third place finish in the 75 yard butterfly. Hernandez also finished fourth in the 300 yard individual medley and 12th in the 75 yard backstroke while Ramunas Paknys placed sixth and Ivars Akmentins placed 10th in backstroke as well. Paknys also finished fourth in the 150 yard backstroke.

The Lions also had swimmers place finishes. Uba Zavaleta placed seventh in the 150 yard butterfly while Victor Munoz placed 11th in the same race. Ryan Chaney finished 30th respectively. Munoz went on to finish seventh in the 75 yard freestyle as well. Five men's relay teams also had high finishes led by the 200 and 400 yard medley and freestyle teams. Two teams finished fourth in the 200 and 400 yard medley relay while another in the 400 yard freestyle relay. The 200 yard freestyle also had a good finish with a fifth place spot.

The Lady Lions were individually led by Sarah Billiamosa who placed 11th in the 75 yard butterfly. Storrie Cramer and Ashton Friedley finished 27th and 32nd respectively in the same event. The women's swimming team had their highest placing with their 200 yard freestyle relay consisting of Stephanie Heutel, Ashlan Higgins, Friedley and Mackenzie Porter. The team finished first with a time of 1:31.78.

The swimming program will host its home-opener on Lindenwood's Homecoming Weekend against Truman State University on October 15th. The meet will begin on at 1 p.m. at the St. Peter's Rec-Plex in St. Peter's Mo.
