Storyline
The Lindenwood women's ice hockey team ends its season-opening eight-game road trip this week with two games against Colgate, a member of the ECAC.

The Lady Lions look to continue making small improvements every week during their first NCAA season. Last week, Lindenwood was swept in a two-game series at Robert Morris. The Lady Lions did play one of their best periods of the year in the second game of that series and will look to extend that for an entire 60 minutes versus the Raiders.

Colgate is 0-2 on the young season as it was shutout last weekend in games versus New Hampshire and Northeastern.

Last Week
Lindenwood lost 8-0 to Robert Morris in game one of last week's series. The Colonials pulled away in the second period with four goals that extended its lead to 6-0. Lindenwood had just seven shots through the first two periods.

In the second game, the Lady Lions had a much better effort in a 7-2 setback. After falling behind 3-0, Lindenwood fought back to within one with two second-period power-play goals. The team couldn't keep that momentum going for the final 25 minutes as Robert Morris scored four times to pull away.

In that second period, shots were nearly even and both teams had two goals.

Improved Penalty Kill
Lindenwood had its best series last week in the penalty kill category. The Lady Lions allowed goals on just 20 percent of Robert Morris' power plays. Heading into that series, the Lady Lions were allowing goals on over 50 percent of power plays.

On the down side, Lindenwood had too many opportunities to practice its penalty kill as Robert Morris had 15 power plays in the two games. In the first three games of the season, the team allowed 4.0 power plays a game. Over the last three games, it is allowing 7.3.

Power Plays
Lindenwood also improved on its power play opportunities. The Lady Lions scored twice in four chances in the final game of the series. In the first five games, Lindenwood had converted just 10 percent of its power plays.

Position Change
Lindenwood shook up its lineup during game two of the Robert Morris series. The biggest change was moving captain Brett Lobreau from forward to defense. Lobreau responded by blocking a team-high four shots.

Lobreau was Lindenwood's leading scorer last season in the ACHA with 29 goals, and she had 99 points in 84 games at that level.

Lobreau moved into the first defensive line with Megan Cox. Her spot in the second forward line was replaced by Sydney Gorzitza.

Point Leaders
Three Lady Lions are tied for the team-high in points with three. Kendra Broad has one goal and two assists, Katie Erickson has three assists, and Alison Wickenheiser has two goals and an assist.

Faceoff Leaders
Sarah Oliphant and Caitlyn Post have been the top Lindenwood players on faceoffs. Both have won 50 percent of the time.

First-Line Offense
The three players who have played the most on the first forward line this season have generated the most scoring chances. Alyssa West leads the team with 13 shots on goal. Alison Wickenheiser is second with 11 shots, and Allysson Arcibal is tied for third with nine shots.

Between the Pipes
Taylor Fairchild stopped 88 percent of the shots against her last weekend, the second straight series with that save percentage. On the season, she has made 287 saves.

Briar Bache saw her first action in goal in the final 33 minutes of the first Robert Morris game. She made 14 saves and allowed four goals.

First Points
Two Lady Lions recorded their first collegiate points last game. Caitlyn Post assisted on the first Lindenwood goal in the game. Jordyn Constance scored the second goal for her first collegiate point.

Vs. ECAC
Lindenwood is playing a member of the ECAC for the first time in program history this week at Colgate. The two games are the only ones this season against members of the ECAC.

Tough Schedule
Lindenwood has played two games this season against a team in the national rankings. It has five remaining games versus teams in the latest national rankings.

About the Raiders
Colgate is 0-2-0 on the season after a 3-0 loss to New Hampshire and a 5-0 loss versus Northeastern last weekend. The Raiders were outshot 72-38 and they went 0-for-11 on the power play.

Colgate is coming off an 11-19-3 season last year in which it finished ninth in the ECAC. The Raiders return 14 players from that team, including four of their top five scorers from last year. Brittany Phillips led the team last year with 33 points. The defensemen are led by returners Amanda Kirwan, Kristi-Lyn Pollock, and Jessica Hootz. In goal is Kimberly Sass, who had five shoutouts in 24 games last year.

Head coach of the Raiders is Scott Wiley, who is in his 10th season as head coach at the school. He has won 127 games, the most in school history.

Up Next
Lindenwood has a week off before its home-opening series Oct. 28-29 versus Mercyhurst. The first NCAA game at the Lindenwood Ice Arena will be that Friday at 7 p.m.
