Lady Lions Beaten 4-2 by Bellarmine

The Lindenwood field hockey team was beaten by Bellarmine for the second time this season on Friday. The Lady Lions fell 4-2 in Louisville, Kentucky. In the first matchup, the Knights defeated Lindenwood by a 5-1 score.

Friday's game was dominated by Bellarmine from the beginning. The Knights outshot Lindenwood 26-1 in the first half and registered eight penalty corners to Lindenwood's two. Bellarmine scored three goals in the first half to take control going into the halftime break.

The second half was scoreless until 15 minutes in, when the Knights netted their fourth goal of the game. The Lady Lions answered back with two goals before the final whistle. Maria Schafer scored on a redirect in front of goal in the 52nd minute. Michelle Sturtevant provided the assist. Fifteen minutes later, Kayleigh Harrower put away her team-leading third goal of the season.

The game ended 4-2 in the Knights' favor. Samantha Brown got the start in goal for Lindenwood, making 16 saves in the loss.

The Lady Lions move to 1-11 on the year after the loss. They will return to action tomorrow at noon when they take on Limestone College.
