Lady Lions Narrowly Defeated 2-1 by Limestone College

The Lindenwood field hockey team was edged out by Limestone College 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Saints got the scoring started in the ninth minute, when Brittany Zimmerman found the back of the net off a penalty corner. The first half ended with a 1-0 score.

Ten minutes into the second half, Limestone made it 2-0 on a goal by Rachel Goromonzi. Lindenwood's Kayleigh Harrower cut the lead in half in the 69th minute. She scored her team-high fourth goal of the year, with an assist from Kelsey Musson.

Samantha Brown got the start in goal for Lindenwood, stopping seven shots. The Lady Lions outshot the Saints 12-11 and held a 11-6 advantage in penalty corners.

With the loss, the Lady Lions drop to 1-11 on the season. Next weekend, Lindenwood will travel to Newport News, Virginia to face Limestone College on Saturday, and then Liberty on Sunday.
