Kramer Soderberg Scores 35 Points In Overtime Victory

Box Score Kramer Soderberg had one of the best offensive games for a Lindenwood player over the last eight years, and the men's basketball team was able to leave Alaska with a victory. The Lions went into overtime for the second time in two nights and defeated Alaska-Fairbanks by an 85-77 score.

Lindenwood trailed the host school of the GCI Alaska Invitational for most of the night, including by double-digits for much of the first half. The Lions used a 17-6 run in the second half to come back and take a four-point lead with less than two minutes left in regulation.

After trading two points, Alaska hit a three-pointer to make it 73-72 and then forced a turnover on its press with 19 seconds left in the game. The Nanooks got open for a layup attempt but they were fouled with 10 seconds left. Alaska's shooter missed the first shot, but made the second to force overtime.

In overtime, the two teams traded baskets for the first part of the extra period. With the score tied at 77 and just over two minutes remaining, Alex Bazzell hit a three-pointer from well beyond the three-point arc. That took all of the steam out of the Nanooks as they did not score another point, and Lindenwood hit five free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

Soderberg led Lindenwood in nearly all areas as he had 35 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Only one Lindenwood player has scored more points in a game over the last eight seasons. Soderberg was 14-of-19 from the field, including two three-pointers, and he made five free throws. He had six of the team's 12 points in overtime.

Bazzell finished with 16 points, including three three-pointers and seven-of-eight from the free throw line. Efkan Eren had a team-high seven rebounds to go along with 12 points.

Lindenwood improves to 4-1 on the season and it finished 2-1 at the Alaska Invitational. The Lions will be off until Nov. 30 when they travel to Urbana.
