The Lindenwood Lady Lions basketball team beat the Missouri Valley Vikings 74-39 on Thursday night in Marshall, Mo.
The Lady Lions dominated the play inside the paint, outscoring the Vikings 46-14, and the Lindenwood bench outscored the home team 31-6. For the second straight game, the Lady Lions grabbed over 60 rebounds. Against the Vikings, Lindenwood compiled 62 boards.
For most of the first half the Lady Lions dominated the play. Lindenwood extended its lead to double digits for the first time with 5:36 to play when the score was 27-17. Missouri Valley cut the lead back to nine two minutes later, but that was the last time the Vikings would be within single digits. The game would go into the half with the Lady Lions leading 35-22.
Lindenwood started the second half on a 16-6 run in the first eight minutes to extend the lead up to 25. The Lady Lions kept their foot on the gas and extended the lead all the way up to 35.
The Lady Lions shot 49 percent from the field compared to the Vikings' 24 percent. Lindenwood also shot 43 percent from behind the arc.
Three Lady Lions scored in double figures, led by Christina Edwards who scored 13. Kelly Albers notched her HAAC leading seventh double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds. Freshman Cassie Bluemner had her second straight game in double digits with 10 points.
With the win the Lady Lions improve to 16-8 overall and 11-4 in HAAC play. Up next for Lindenwood is a home game against Graceland on Saturday night.
