Men's Lacrosse Defeats Fontbonne 7-4

The Lindenwood men's lacrosse team scored the first three goals of the game and that proved to be the difference in a 7-4 win over Fontbonne on Tuesday night at Hunter Stadium.

The Lions scored three times in the first 4:21 and looked to be on their way to an easy win. Fontbonne's defense buckled down though and held Lindenwood without a goal for the rest of the half, and the Griffins scored twice to make it 3-2 at halftime.

Lindenwood struck quickly in the second half with a goal just 41 seconds in. Fontbonne scored midway through the quarter but that was the last time it got within one. The Lions added one more goal in the third and an early one in the fourth. Both teams struck once more in the final quarter for the final margin of victory.

Dan Ashlock was the star of the game, making 12 saves in goal. Several of his stops came at crucial times and kept Lindenwood on top on the scoreboard. Cody Furer and Julian Barnes each recorded six groundballs and Daniel Strike also helped anchor the defense.

Offensively, Jordan McKay led the way with three goals and an assist. Greg Cameron also scored twice, and Andrew Peterson and William DelGrosso had the other goals.

Lindenwood is now 2-0 on the year while Fontbonne falls to 0-3.

Lindenwood goes on the road this weekend to Nashville, Tenn. for neutral site games against Purdue, North Carolina State, and Marquette.
