The Lindenwood baseball team split a pair of games against Georgetown College on Saturday afternoon in Georgetown, Ky. In the opening game of the series the Lions fell in extra innings 3-2 but came back and won the second game 1-0.
In the first game the Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the third inning, and then added another run in the fifth. Trailing 2-0 the Lions scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning to tie the score. Both teams went scoreless in the seventh inning and the game headed into extra innings.
In the top of the eighth the Lions could not bring across a run. Jeff Wilkins relieved Lindenwood starter, Cody Trudell in the bottom of the eighth and he surrendered the game winning run.
The Lions outhit the Tigers six to five and Lindenwood committed one error. Zach Loraine led the way for the Lions offensively going one for two with a RBI. Trudell went seven innings on the hill giving up four hits while striking out six.
Game two was a low scoring affair. The Lions scored a single run on offense and then left the rest to the left arm of Zac Pearman. Pearman took care of the Tigers throwing a complete game shutout for his third win of the season.
After going 1-1 on Saturday the Lions run their overall record to 7-9. The two teams will close out the series on Sunday afternoon.
