The Lindenwood men's lacrosse team went 2-1 at its weekend competition in Nashville, Tenn. On Saturday, the Lions won their conference opener over Purdue by a 16-4 score, but lost to North Carolina State by a 13-8 margin. Sunday, Lindenwood defeated Marquette by a 15-4 score.
A sign of how much Lindenwood controlled the Purdue game came on the faceoffs, where Lindenwood's trio of
John Pettis,
Richard Wilson, and
Cody Furer lost just four times the whole game.
Andrew Peterson led the scoring with four goals and an assist.
Jack Rohan had three scores and also assisted on one goal.
William DelGrosso led the defense with four groundballs, and he also had one goal and one assist.
Dan Ashlock made six saves in goal.
Against North Carolina State,
Josh Arras led the offense with two goals and two assists, and
Jordan McKay had two goals and one assist. Pettis led the team with four groundballs, and
Adam Ure made six saves in goals.
Peterson and
Brandon Stuebing each had five points in the victory over Marquette. Peterson scored two times and had three assists, while Stuebing had three goals and two assists. McKay put four shots in the back of the net. Defensively, Ashlock made 10 saves in goal and Furer had a team-high five groundballs. Wilson won 13 faceoffs.
Lindenwood goes to 4-1 on the season after the weekend's action. Lindenwood starts a four-game homestand on March 6 when it hosts Wisconsin at 2 p.m.
