The Lindenwood women's ice hockey team burned Robert Morris with a goal in overtime to win 7-6 in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday night.
The Lady Lions did not record a single shot in the first period, and Robert Morris scored two goals on 17 shots to take the early lead.
In the second period, Lindenwood quickly answered back with Brett Lobreau netting an even strength goal early on after the intermission. Robert Morris proceeded to score a shorthanded goal, followed by Krystal Martin scoring on a power-play. After a Robert Morris put away a power-play goal, Martin scored her second of the night, and Kali Frederick tied the game at 4-4 with a minute left in the period.
After the second intermission, Lobreau and Kelsey Talbot both converted power-play chances with goals to give the Lady Lions a 6-4 lead. But Robert Morris responded with two goals to tie the game with five minutes remaining. Both teams would survive for a chance to go to overtime.
In the extra session, Martin would cap her hat-trick with only 30 seconds left to win it for the Lady Lions in thrilling fashion.
Rebecca Bernet recorded 28 saves between the pipes to earn the victory and also tallied an assist.
On Friday night, Lindenwood edged Robert Morris by a 3-2 score.
The lone first period goal was scored by Talbot, giving the Lady Lions a 1-0 lead going into the first intermission.
Robert Morris came out in the second period and scored to tie the game. But Lobreau took advantage of a power-play opportunity and put Lindenwood back on top 2-1. In a period marred with penalties, Robert Morris was also able to convert a power-play into a goal, tying the game at 2-2 going into the final period.
In the third period, Deven Staiger netted the game-winning goal, with assists from Kyley Engstrom and Lisa Moreau. The Lady Lions were able to hang on to their slim lead for a 3-2 victory.
Bernet stopped 29 shots to earn the win in goal for Lindenwood, while her teammates were able to put 40 shots on the opposing target.
Lindenwood will return to action next weekend in Kalamazoo, Michigan for the CCWHA Tournament.
