Lindenwood Baseball Sweeps Baker

The Lindenwood Lions baseball team ended a weekend road trip with a two-game sweep of Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas Sunday afternoon. The Lions won the opening game of the day 13-3 and the second 6-0.

In game one, the Wildcats took a 1-0 lead with a run in the third inning. The Lions answered back with a four run frame to take a 4-1 lead. After the third inning the flood gates opened for the Lindenwood offense. The team scored one run in the fifth inning and four in the sixth and the seventh.

Lindenwood outhit Baker 12 to five and the Lions committed two errors. Freshman Zac Pearman started on the hill for the Lions and got the win after throwing 5 2/3 innings while giving up just four hits and two earned runs.  

Mike Moore led the way for the Lions offensively going two for two with a home run and four RBIs. Mario Parra also had a good game at the plate going two for three with three RBIs.

The Lions jumped out to a 3-0 lead with three runs in the second inning and added another run in the fourth. The four runs were all the Lindenwood pitching staff needed. Three Lions' pitchers combined the shutout.

Daniel Sandello started on the mound for the Lions and went five innings. Zach Lewis and Jeff Wilkins finished off the game with one inning apiece.

Parra had another nice game at the plate going three for four and a run scored. Dylan Lowery drove in three RBIs, while Shelby Anderson and Adam Peacock both had a two-hit game.

With the two wins the Lions improve their overall record to 12-11 and 5-1 in conference play. Lindenwood will be back in action Wednesday night against William Jewell at the Lou Brock Complex.
