Lions Sweep Benedictine on the Road

The Lindenwood Lions baseball team swept a doubleheader against the Benedictine Ravens on Wednesday in Atchison, Kan. The Lions won game one 7-1 and game two 12-5.
In game one, Cory Trudell came within two outs of throwing a no-hitter. Trudell gave up a single in the bottom of the seventh inning, which was the Ravens only hit of the game. Julian Marquez relieved Trudell and got the final two outs of the contest.
The Lions got on the scoreboard in the first inning after Shelby Anderson doubled to move Mike Moore up to third base and then scored on a fielder's choice. Lindenwood struck again in the third inning. Dylan Lowery led off the frame with a triple and was pushed across by an Adam Peackock groundout.
Lindenwood added another tally in the sixth and scored three more insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning. Benedictine was able to muster one run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Leading the way for the Lions offensively was Moore who went four for four with two RBIs. Crispin Tarango also pitched in with two hits.
Game two was a game of miscues for the Ravens. Benedictine committed six errors on defense and the Lions capitalized on the mistakes scoring 10 runs. Leading the way in game two for the Lions was Anderson who drove in four runs and went three for four. Daniel Sandello went two for three with two RBIs and Moore scored four runs.
Zac Pearman started on the hill and won his seventh game of the season. Pearman went six innings surrendering seven hits and three earned runs. He also struck out five.
With the two wins the Lions improve their overall record to 17-13 and their conference mark to 10-2. Up next for the Lions is a four game weekend series at home against the Missouri Valley Vikings.
