Lions Sweep Missouri Valley

The Lindenwood Lions baseball team continued its success against the HAAC by sweeping a doubleheader against the Missouri Valley Vikings on Monday afternoon in St. Charles. Lindenwood won game one 9-4 and game two 8-1.
To open the day the Vikings got on the scoreboard first with a three-run second inning. Lindenwood answered right back in the bottom of the second with three runs to tie the score. Missouri Valley took the lead once again with a single tally in the third.
Trailing by a run in the fourth, Mike Moore doubled with two outs followed by another double by Shelby Anderson to tie the score. With the game tied the Lions erupted in the fifth to break the game open. The frame started with Zach Loraine tripling followed by four straight singles. The Lions scored five runs in the inning to take a commanding 9-4 lead.
Leading the way offensively for the Lions was Moore who went three for four with two runs and three RBIs. Anderson pitched in with two hits and two RBIs, and Dylan Lowery drove in two runs.
Cory Trudell started for the Lions and won his fourth game of the season after going five innings and striking out seven.
In game two, the Lions got on the scoreboard early. In the bottom of the first the Lions scored two runs on two hits. Moore and Loraine each drove in a run to give Lindenwood the 2-0 lead. The Vikings trimmed the lead to one with a single tally in the fourth.
Lindenwood answered the Vikings' run with three of its own in the bottom of the fourth. In the inning the Lions had three singles and got help from a Viking an error. The Lions added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to give the home team an 8-1 lead.
Zac Pearman started the game and went six innings and struck out six. The freshman won his eighth game of the season.
 Lindenwood outhit the Vikings 9-3 and both teams committed an error. Tarango led the way for the Lions at the plate going four for four with two RBIs. Moore pitched in with a pair of hits and two RBIs.
With the two wins the Lions improve to 19-13 overall and 12-2 in HAAC play. Up next for Lindenwood is a four-game weekend series against Central Methodist in St. Charles.
