The Lindenwood softball team split its doubleheader on Thursday afternoon against Missouri S&T. The Lady Lions won the first game 6-5, but dropped game two 12-2.
The Lady Miners got on the scoreboard first in game one, scoring a run in the opening inning. Each team scored in the second, with Lindenwood scoring once and the Lady Miners adding two more to their total.
Down 3-1 in the third, the Lady Lions rallied for five runs on six hits to jump in front 6-3. Missouri S & T scored a run in each of the final two innings but could not finish the comeback, as Lindenwood held on for the 6-5 victory.
Offensively,
Sophia Galati and
Macy Bross led the Lady Lions, each collecting three hits. Galati drove one run, while Bross drove in two.
Aubrey Moss came on in relief to get the win, pitching four innings and giving up one run on four hits, and striking out five batters.
In game two, the Lady Lions drew first blood, putting one run on the board in the first. But Missouri S & T scored 10 runs in the bottom of the opening inning and two more in the third to take a commanding lead. Lindenwood scored one more run in the fifth but fell 12-2.
Chelsea Landeck was a bright spot for Lindenwood, going 2-2 with a run scored in the loss.
Lindenwood (13-13) will travel to Illinois on Friday to face Quincy in a doubleheader.
