The Lindenwood men's lacrosse team ended its Colorado trip with a 7-4 loss at NCAA Division II Mesa State.
The Lions led just once in the game as they scored the first goal of the contest late in the first quarter. Mesa State answered though with a big goal with just three seconds left in the period. In the second quarter, Mesa State had a 2-1 goal advantage and it led 3-2 at the break. Both team scored twice in the third quarter as Lindenwood kept the game close, but Mesa State finally pulled away with two unanswered goals in the fourth.
Lindenwood was outshot 48-15 in the game, including a 11-2 margin in the deciding fourth quarter.
Kyle O'Donnell led the Lions with two goals, and the other goals came from
Andrew Peterson and
Jordan McKay. Peterson and
McNein Hewitt each had an assist.
Dan Ashlock had four saves and four groundballs to lead the defense.
Lindenwood falls to 10-6 with the loss. The Lions begin a four-game homestand on Thursday with a key conference showdown against nationally-ranked Missouri.
