The Lindenwood softball team dominated conference foe Avila on Tuesday at Lou Brock Sports Complex, sweeping the Eagles by scores of 10-0 and 9-0. Game one took six innings, and the Lady Lions ended game two in just five innings.
Lindenwood began the first game with three runs in the first inning to establish an early lead, and proceeded to score in every inning except the fifth to capture the 10-0 win.
Sophia Galati led the offense, collecting three hits, including two triples. She also scored two runs and drove in two runs.
Miranda Schlosser and
Bailee Winkler both had two hits in the win, and Schlosser added three runs as well.
On the mound for the Lady Lions,
Aubrey Moss pitched four innings, allowing just two hits and striking out six batters to earn her 13th victory of the season.
Adi Powell pitched two innings in relief, letting up one hit and striking out one batter.
There was no doubt in the second game either, as Lindenwood scored in all five innings and did not allow an Eagle to get a hit. The Lady Lions coasted to a 9-0 win.
Galati and
Emily Johnson both had two hits, while
Sophie Berman drove in three runs in the offensive outburst. In addition, Winkler slugged her team-leading 10th homerun in the fourth inning.
Heidi Schertzer and
Megan Noe combined for a no-hitter in the second game, with Schertzer picking up her 10th win this year. She pitched four innings and struckout four Eagles, while not issuing a single walk. Noe pitched a perfect final inning in relief to seal the sweep.
Lindenwood (29-21, 15-5) heads into the HAAC conference tournament currently ranked third in the conference, but will have to wait and see how things play out as for whom it will face on Friday at Lou Brock Sports Complex.
