The Lindenwood Lions baseball team stepped out of conference play on Tuesday afternoon when it took on the McKendree Bearcats and Harris-Stowe Hornets in St. Charles. In the first game, against McKendree the Lions fell 15-5. Lindenwood took out its frustration after the first game on Harris-Stowe winning 13-2.
It was not a good start for the Lions against McKendree. The Bearcats got on the scoreboard early and often. The visitors scored two runs in the first and seven in the second to take a 9-1 lead after two innings. In the fifth and the sixth the Bearcats added a total of five more runs to extend the lead to 15-1.
Lindenwood was able to bring across four runs in the seventh but it was too little too late. McKendree scored a run in the eighth to end the game by the 10-run rule, 15-5.
Adam Peacock led the way for the Lions with three hits and three RBIs. Jason Streigel chipped in with two hits in two at bats.
The contest against Harris-Stowe started a little better for the Lions.

Mike Moore single.
Shelby Anderson drove in a run on a groundball then
Carlos Pianetta and Jeremy Koening each drove in a run to give the home team a 3-0 lead.
Harris-Stowe cut into the lead with a solo homerun in the top of the second and one in the fourth but that was the last time the Hornets scored. Lindenwood added to the lead with a run in the third, four more in the fourth, and five in the fifth to take an 13-2 lead. The Lions won the nine inning game 13-2 in the seventh due to the 10-run rule.
Daniel Sandello led the way for the Lions at the plate with three RBIs and two hits. Moore and Tarango also chipped in with pair of hits.
Nick Naranjo made his first start of the year and got the win after giving up just one earned run in five innings.
With the split in the doubleheader the Lions record moves to 24-16. Up next for the Lions is a three-game series against the No. 1 team in the country, Oklahoma City, Saturday and Sunday in St. Charles.
