The Lindenwood field hockey team began its 2011 campaign with a 4-1 loss against Mercyhurst on Friday at Hunter Stadium. Both teams registered all their goals in the first half, and stepped up the defensive intensity in the second.

Kayleigh Harrower scored the only Lady Lions' goal three minutes into the game. But the Lakers came back with four unanswered goals.

Mercyhurst outshot Lindenwood 19-6, and recorded 12 corners to Lindenwood's four.

The Lady Lions will head on the road for the first time this season to face Hendrix in Conway, Arkansas on Sunday at noon.
