The Lindenwood field hockey team's struggles continued as the Lady Lions fell 5-1 to Saint Louis University on Friday afternoon.
The Billikens got off to an early start, scoring in the fourth minute of the game on a tap-in shot from the right side by Tori Lycett. Lindenwood knotted the score up at 1-1 when
Lynsey Porter scored off a penalty corner. But seven minutes before the halftime whistle, Lycett netted her second goal of the match, and sent the home team into the break with a 2-1 lead.
The second half scoring was dominated by the Billikens, putting three more goals up on the board, while shutting out the Lady Lions. Lycett scored once more, giving her a hat-trick. Lindenwood could not muster a comeback, leaving the score at 5-1 in favor of the home team.
Samantha Brown got the start between the pipes for the Lady Lions, stopping 10 shots in 70 minutes of play. The Billikens dominated in shots and penalty corner, outnumbering Lindenwood 22-3 and 12-2, respectively.
The Lady Lions will play just their second home game of the season, hosting Bellarmine at 4:30 pm on Saturday at Hunter Stadium.
