The Lindenwood Lady Lions soccer team began its 2011 season with a 2-1 win over the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday afternoon.

The Lady Lions took all of 12 seconds to get on the scoreboard when Courtney Bresnahan scored to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. Bresnahan struck again 30 minutes later for her second goal of the game which gave Lindenwood the 2-0 at the half.

UMSL cut the lead to one in the 70^th minute but the Lady Lions defense held on for the win.

Whitney Calvin started in the goal for Lindenwood and stopped all but one of the Tritons six shots.

Up next for the Lions is another road game against Maryville University on Tuesday night.
