Men's Swimming & Diving (Discontinued)

Swimming and Diving Have Successful Outing at Washington Invitational

The Lindenwood swimming and diving team competed at the Washington Invitational in St. Louis Mo., this weekend where the men's team finished in first while the women placed fourth.
 
On the men's side, Ramunas Paknys broke the Washington pool record in the 100m backstroke when he recorded a 51.14 time, breaking the previous record of 51.73 in 1993. Pakyns also placed first in the 200 yard backstroke. Ivars Akmentins placed first in the 100 and 200 yard freestyle in 46.80 and 1:43 respectively.
 
Reinis Rozensteins finished behind Akmentins in the 100 yard freestyle and also took second in the 50 yard freestyle. Other Lion finishes included Javier Hernandez finishing first in the 100 yard butterfly, Gilaf Brunfman taking fourth in the 100 yard backstroke, Arturs Plots placing second in the 200 yard backstroke.
 
The women's team had a successful outing as well. Stephanie Heutel led the way, finishing first in the 200 yard backstroke and third in the 200 yard IM in 2:16. Michelle Bell had a good showing on the diving board finishing first in the 3m and third in the 1m. The teams finished high in the relays as well, placing in the top five in a number of medley relay events.
 
The Lindenwood swimming and diving teams will host the Lindenwood Quad Meet in St. Peters, Mo., on Saturday, Jan. 21. Meet time is set to being at 9 a.m.
