Swimming and Diving Hosts Missouri State

The Lindenwood swimming and diving team hosted the Missouri State Bears at the St. Peters Rec-Plex in St. Peters, Mo., this Saturday.
 
The men's team had a successful outing only to come up short in total points. Cody Friedhoff placed second in the 200 yard freestyle along with coming in second in the 500 yard freestyle. Ivars Akmentins placed second in the 100 yard backstroke followed by Ramunas Paknys in a time of 52.51. Akmentins posted a first place finish in the 50 yard freestyle and Paknys recorded a second place finish in the 200 yard backstroke. Gilad Brunfman placed second in the 100 yard butterfly and Arturs Plots finished second in the 200 yard breaststroke.
 
Although the Bears won in total points, the Lions had many swimmers finish in the top three in almost every event. In the 200 yard butterfly, three Lions including Javier Hernandez, Brunnfman and Yannis Chader finished in the top three of the event. Hernandez also recorded a first place finish in the 500 yard freestyle. In the diving events, Colin Sharpe placed second in the one and three meter
 
On the women's side, Storrie Cramer finished third in the 100 yard breaststroke with Therese Klockare placing fourth in the 100 yard backstroke. Sarah Billiamosa recorded a third place finish in the 200 yard butterfly while Stephanie Heutel finished third in 25.69 in the 50 yard freestyle. In the diving events, Michelle Bell placed first in the one meter, second in the three meter and third in the 200 yard backstroke.
 
The swimming and diving teams will be back in action as they travel to Elsah, Ill., to take on Principia College. Meet time is set to begin at 1 p.m.
