Lady Lions Beaten by Mercyhurst

Box Score The Lindenwood field hockey team loss their second consecutive home game on Sunday. The loss came against Mercyhurst College by a score of 4-2. Sunday's matchup was the third home game in five days for the Lady Lions who went 1-2 on the weekend.

The first half was full of offense as five of the six goals were scored in the first 35 minutes.  The Lakers started off the scoring with two goals coming four minutes apart. Lindenwood drew within one halfway through the first half with a penalty stroke conversion by leading scorer, Kristi O'Connor. Mercyhurst jumped out to a 3-1 lead with ten minutes left but the Lady Lions answered with a goal by Maria Ana Llosa. The Lindenwood goal was assisted by Kelsey Musson and marked the first on the season for Llosa.

Mercyhurst added an insurance goal nine minutes into the second half which held up for the remaining 26 minutes of the game.

The Lakers held the advantage in penalty corners with 14 to Lindenwood's five. The Lady Lions were outshot 18 to 6 in the game. Victoria Gil recorded a season-high 14 saves in net for Lindenwood.

The Lady Lions are now 5-6 this season and will be back on the field Saturday October 20th when they host Bellarmine University at Hunter Stadium.
