Field Hockey Extends Its Winning Streak With 2-1 Victory Over Limestone

Box Score The Lindenwood field hockey team won its third straight game Sunday morning with a 2-1 victory over Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C.

Linda Oberle started the scoring off for the Lady Lions midway through the first half. The goal was Oberle's second of the season and was assisted by Lynsey PorterMeredith Openlander added to Lindenwood's lead 11 minutes later with her second of the season as well. The Lady Lions held Limestone scoreless in the first half and headed into the final 35 minutes with a 2-0 lead.

Limestone cut the margin in half when Sara Parker added a goal in the 47th minute. Limestone continued to press through the final stretch of the game but Victoria Gil came up big in net for the Lady Lions with five big second-half saves.

Limestone outshot Lindenwood 13-10 but was even in shots on goal with eight a piece. Gil recorded seven saves and her eighth win on the season.

Lindenwood is now 8-6 this season and will be back on the road November 3rd in Louisville, Kent. to close out its season. The Lady Lions finish the 2012 season with games against Bellarmine University and a neutral-site matchup with limestone.
