Men’s rugby remained undefeated and in first place in the Heart of America Rugby Football Union with a 118-7 home win over Iowa State at Hunter Stadium Saturday night.
Sophomore fullback Morgan Findlay returned to the lineup after a five-week absence to pace a potent Lindenwood offense. Sebastian Kalm scored the first two tries of the game for the Lions and wings Matty Harris and Jake O’Neill each scored on either side of a pair of tries from Findlay. Freshman Tamatasi Paogofie-Buyten added a try to give Lindenwood a 49-0 lead at the break.
Lindenwood continued to pour on the offense in the second half, scoring 11 times. Findlay, Princeton Russell and James Poli highlighted the attack.
Findlay led the Lions offense with four tries and Kalm was close behind with three. Jake Divich made 14 of 18 conversions to add 28 points to the Lindenwood attack and freshman prop Tommy Stachowiak came off the bench to provide some great ball handling and scrum work.
The Lions are now 3-1 overall and go on the road for their next game against Oklahoma State University. The opening kickoff is at 1 p.m. in Stillwater, Okla.
