Women's Basketball Falls To Division I Opponent In Exhibition Game

Box Score The Lindenwood women's basketball team traveled to Peoria, Ill. to open up the 2012-13 season with an exhibition game against Division I opponent Bradley University on Thursday night. The Braves defeated the Lady Lions by a 93-58 margin.

Bradley jumped to an early lead in the first half, scoring the first four points of the game along with holding a 12-3 lead after the first five minutes of the game. The Lady Lions would chip away at the Bradley lead and reduce it to five before the Braves ultimately took control of the first half.

An 11-point run in the middle of the first half increased Bradley's lead to 22 before the Braves would end the half up 24 on the Lady Lions. Lindenwood bounced back-and-forth with Bradley the final five minutes of the half, not allowing the Braves' lead to grow extend.

The Braves' lead continued to grow throughout the beginning of the second half, before a lay-up by Julie Hlinak sparked the Lindenwood offense to go on a 14-2 run, bringing the score to 79-52. Bradley then reacted back, going on an 8-0 run that created a 35-point lead for the Braves.

The Lady Lions chipped away, reducing the Bradley lead to 30 with a lay-up by Emily Alfrey and a jumper and free throw by Marissa Lehnig. That was as close as the Lady Lions would get before Bradley would finish the game taking six out of the final seven points.

Three members of the Lady Lions squad recorded double-digit points, led by junior Caroline Bourlioux with 12. Tori Kuhn scored 11 points in her collegiate debut and Hlinak finished with 10. Kuhn also snagged a team-high six rebounds in the contest.

The Lady Lions will play their final exhibition game of the season against Missouri on Tuesday, November 6. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
