Baseball Splits a Pair of Games Saturday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lindenwood baseball team split a pair of games in Magnolia, Ark. Saturday afternoon. The Lions won the first game of the day 6-3 over Angelo State. In the second game, Lindenwood fell 12-2 against Southern Arkansas.

In the opening game of the day against Angelo State the Lions fell behind early. Angelo State scored a single run in the bottom of the first inning to take the 1-0 advantage. Lindenwood answered right back with a two run inning in the second. The Rams tied the game up again in the bottom of the second.

The Lions retook the lead in the fourth, but that advantage lasted just one inning. Angelo State tied the score in the bottom of the fifth inning, but fortunately for Lindenwood it was the last time the Rams would score.

The sixth inning saw the Lions score a single run, and then two more in the seventh to take a 6-3 lead. Lindenwood won the game by that score.

Angelo State out hit the Lions 9-7 but committed four errors. Mike Wilson led the team with two hits and two RBIs. Matt Tellor also had two hits, while Zach Loraine, Jason Streigel, and Eddie Sutton all drove in a run.

Dylan Terrell started on the hill and went five innings and earned his first win of the season. Ryan Griffin pitched the final four innings of the game and earned the save.

Game two wasn't as friendly to Lindenwood. The Lions did score the first run of the game but that lead lasted for just a half an inning. The Muleriders scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning, and never looked back. The home team scored five runs in the fifth, three more in the sixth, and closed out the contest with a single tally in the seventh.

Loraine led the Lindenwood offense going four-for-four with a pair of RBIs. Zac Pearman started on the mound for the Lions and went 4 1/3 innings giving up eight earned runs.

The Lions are now 2-3 on the season and will be right back in action Sunday afternoon against Arkansas Tech.
