Box Score 2 The Lindenwood softball team picked up its first victory of 2012 on Saturday afternoon with a 4-3 win over Nova Southeastern. Earlier in the day, the Lady Lions lost an offensive shootout versus Florida Southern by an 11-7 margin.
Lindenwood got off to a quick start versus Nova Southeastern by scoring three times in the second inning.
Hannah Braun drove in two runners with a bases loaded double and
Deidre Merli scored another with a double right after that. Nova Southeastern scored two times in the top of the fifth, but pitcher
Kendall Ryndak helped her cause with a two-out single.
Ryndak would need that insurance run in the seventh inning. Nova Southeastern got within one run and had bases loaded with just one out. Two straight popouts that didn't leave the infield ended the threat for Ryndak and the Lady Lions.
Ryndak went seven innings and allowed eight hits, four walks, and three earned runs. She struck out four batters. Braun had two hits to lead the offense.
In the Florida Southern game, Lindenwood fell behind 7-1 after three innings. It battled back with five runs in the top of the fourth, but Florida Southern had too much offense, scoring four more runs for the victory.
Danielle Farnam had two hits, three RBIs, and a run for Lindenwood. Katie Keaton had two RBIs and
Macy Bross scored twice.
Megan Noe and
Anne Park also had two hits apiece.
Lindenwood ends the Eckerd Invitational on Sunday morning with a contest against the host school.
