Box Score 2 The Lindenwood baseball team split a pair of games against Arkansas Tech on Saturday in Russelville, Ark. The Lions won game one 5-3 and fell in game two 6-2.
In the first game of the day, Lindenwood jumped out to an early lead with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. The Lions added to the lead in the top of the third with a single tally. Arkansas Tech tied the score in the bottom of the third inning with a three run frame.
The game stayed tied for the next three innings and headed into extra innings. Neither team was able to break the tie in the eighth, but in the top of the ninth Lindenwood scored two runs to take the lead. Arkansas Tech went down in order in the bottom half of the inning and the Lions won the contest.
Ryan Light led the team at the dish going four-for-five with a RBI.
Matt Tellor and
Wade Rothermich chipped in with three hits apiece. Tellor also drove in three runs.
Zac Pearman started on the hill and went 6 2/3 while giving up three earned runs and got the no decision.
Ryan Griffin came out of the pen and got the win after going 2 1/3 while striking out two.
The night cap started with the Lions scoring a run in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Arkansas Tech answered in the bottom half of the inning with three runs to take the lead. The home team added to its lead with a run in the second and two more in the fourth inning. Lindenwood was able to score a run in the sixth but that was all the team could muster.
The Lions were out hit in the second game 8-7 and the Lindenwood defense committed three errors.
Mario Parra led the team going three-for-three with a RBI.
Dylan Terrell started for the Lions and went 3 1/3 surrendering five earned runs.
With the split on Sunday, Lindenwood runs its record to 3-5. The Lions and Arkansas Tech will play again on Sunday afternoon.
