Lions Fall To No. 7 Lewis

The Lindenwood men's volleyball team was swept on Saturday night at Hyland Arena by Lewis, the No. 7 team at the NCAA Division I-II level. The Flyers, who were the highest ranked team that the Lions have faced in program history, won by scores of 25-21, 25-19, and 25-17.

Lindenwood could not keep up offensively with the hot-hitting Lewis squad. The Flyers hit over .400 for the match and never hit below .300 for a set. Defensively, Lewis had nine blocks, including five early in the match that helped set the tone for the contest.

Jack Mitchell led Lindenwood with 13 kills and five digs, and Tim Schmidt had a team-high 29 assists. The Lions' middle hitters had success in the match, as Logan Jarus and Scott Siwicki combined for nine kills, five blocks, and a .563 attack percentage.

Lindenwood falls to 9-6 on the season with the loss. The Lions will next host the Lindenwood Classic next Friday and Saturday. Lindenwood faces California Baptist and King on day one of the event, and Limestone and Pfeiffer on the second day.
